# Migration

Toshi was initially launched as a tax token, however the Leet DEX exploit resulted in only one trustworthy DEX left over that was a viable option, that being Sushi V3.

Toshi was a tax token before the relaunch on Sushi, but due to Sushi being V3, it automatically becomes a 0 tax token. Due to this forced migration to V3, Toshi lost the possibility of revenue generation through taxes to support the project. A decision was made to relaunch the token through Sushi V2.

The new Toshi contract contained a 3%/3% transaction tax.

Toshi tokens for the relaunch were airdropped to holders & CEX's.

A whitelist function was retained in the new contract for CEXes and the market makers, so they would be exempt from taxes, leaving us the widest array of partners possible.

Taxes are used for the following-

* **Exchange listings**
* **Paying and hiring team members**
* **Building a treasury**
* **Marketing**
* **Toshi Art**
* **Other fun activities**

### Meow DAO Tax Removal Vote & Uniswap V3

Subsequent to the above migration, the newly enacted Meow DAO Vote #2 offered the community the opportunity to vote on keeping the taxes, or reducing to 0%/0% token tax.

A successful and historical Meow DAO vote resulted in a final decision to remove taxes to 0%, and thus a migration of the liquidity pools to Uniswap V3.
